Cleaning the mattress is important not only for aesthetics, but for a real health issue. While the sheets are frequently changing, the bacteria pass through them and end up accumulating on the mattress and reproducing.
It is estimated that about a third of all bacteria on the mattress come from our body, including faecal bacteria, saliva, and dead skin cells.
Not to mention the humidity, which can favor the appearance of mold whose spores are dangerous to our health.
In this article we suggest cheap and effective DIY tricks to eliminate any kind of stain from the mattress and make it come back as new.
1. White vinegar
This method is perfect for newer mold stains. Mix two equal parts of water and white vinegar, add a few drops of liquid detergent, shake well and spray on a cloth.
Rub the cloth on the stains and let the solution act for a few hours. Vinegar is very effective against mold.
2. Sodium bicarbonate
To eliminate the urine stains from a mattress just spread a little baking soda on it and let it act for 30 minutes.
After this period of time, rub a sponge soaked in water and a bit of detergent directly on the stain. Finally, pass a damp and clean cloth and let it dry.
3. Oxygenated water
To eliminate the oldest mold stains mixes 30 milliliters of hydrogen peroxide with 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Apply the solution on a toothbrush that you no longer use.
Rub well on the stain until it creates a kind of foam, and let act for 10 minutes. Finally, remove the residue with a clean cloth.
4. Liquid detergent
Blood stains are among the most difficult to remove from the mattress. Apply some liquid detergent on a damp cloth and place it on the stain, without rubbing.
