Hands down, the only dessert my hubby will eat during the fall!

1. Start by peeling, coring, and slicing your apples. Place them in a large mixing bowl and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
2. In a separate bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour this mixture over the apples and toss to coat evenly.
3. Transfer the apple mixture to your slow cooker and spread it out evenly.
4. In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, and salt. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter or two forks until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
5. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples in the slow cooker, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
6. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 hours, until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
7. Serve warm, and enjoy the comforting taste of homemade apple crisp.
Variations & Tips
For a nuttier crunch, you can add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping mixture. If you prefer a lighter version, substitute half of the flour with almond flour. Additionally, for those who love a bit of extra spice, a pinch of ground cloves or allspice can be added to the apple mixture.
