The Fire Starters: Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling

Every time you empty the dryer’s lint trap, stuff the lint into one of the cardboard tubes kept in your laundry room. This is why I store the empty tubes there.

Ensure you store them in a secure, dry area. Dryer lint is highly flammable.

When it’s time to start a fire, use a couple of these cardboard tubes stuffed with lint as part of your kindling. Both the lint and tubes burn cleanly and easily. We’ve consistently had success using this method in our fire pit.

In addition to dryer lint, we’ve also stuffed the cardboard tubes with shredded paper from our workplace, old invoices, and discarded publications.

These tubes are easy to use, store, and transport, making them perfect for camping trips. Plus, they keep everything neat and organized.

Even if it’s just a small effort, reducing waste and recycling feels rewarding.
