This reminded me of a dish they serve at our local steakhouse!

Preheat oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cook sausage: In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon of olive oil until browned.
Prepare potatoes: Peel and slice the potatoes about 1/8 inch thick. Place them in a large bowl and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
Layer ingredients: In a 9.5×11-inch baking dish, layer the potatoes and sausage, pressing down to create a level surface. Pour the heavy cream over the potatoes until they are almost covered.
Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30-45 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
Serve: Let the dish cool slightly before serving.
